Randy Conaway
Former Grand Commander of Missouri - Army

Randall "Randy” Lee Conaway, age 72, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 10:02 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at his home. He was born January 24, 1949, in Dennison, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Frances (Nogczyk) Conaway.
Randy was a 1967 graduate of Scio High School in Scio, Ohio. He was drafted and served in the Vietnam War, from 1968-1970, and was a proud member of the 2nd Platoon Charlie Company, 3rd of the 506th "The Bastard Battalion” 101st Air Mobile and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Air Medal.

For forty years, Randy was a proud member of the VFW Post 4541 of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and the Military Order of the Cootie. In November 2009, he had the honor of laying a small wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as Grand Commander of the State of Missouri. His love for his country continued all of his life. Randy was a dedicated member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ for forty-eight years.

Randy came home in 1970 and some months later, married his sweetheart, Susan N. Overall, on September 27, 1970, in Apple Valley, California. This union was blessed with four children.

Randy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan; sister, Frances (Harold); son, Aaron (Lauren); daughter, Carrie; daughter, Sarah (Travis); his grandchildren, Cody, Kirsten, Alexis and Lucas, and his best buddy, "Buddy.”
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Frances; his beloved son, Chris; and his older brothers, Ralph Jr. and Andrew P.
